What can I put in a skip?

You can put a wide range of general waste into a skip, including household rubbish, garden waste, furniture, wood, cardboard, soil, and non-hazardous building materials like bricks and rubble. Skips are ideal for home renovations, garden clearances, and commercial projects where large amounts of waste need to be removed quickly. All items collected will be taken to a licensed waste transfer station where as much material as possible is recycled.

What can't I put in a skip?

Certain materials cannot be placed in a skip, including hazardous waste such as asbestos, chemicals, solvents, batteries, tyres, gas cylinders, oil, clinical waste, fluorescent tubes, and electrical appliances (WEEE waste). At Woodford Recycling, we provide specialist hazardous waste disposal services to ensure these items are handled safely and in line with UK environmental regulations. If you’re unsure what you can put in your skip, simply contact our friendly team for clear advice and safe alternatives.

Do I need a skip permit?

You do not require a skip permit if the skip will be positioned on your own premises. If the skip needs to be positioned anywhere other than your premises, such as on a public road, you will require a skip permit from the council.

At Woodford Recycling, we aim to make skip hire simple, not complicated, which is why we’re happy to arrange a skip permit on your behalf if one is needed. We will take care of the skip permit and make the necessary arrangements as part of our skip hire services. We’ll work with your local council to obtain the right skip licence, ensuring the process is as smooth as possible.

How long can I hire a skip for?

Here at Woodford Recycling, you can hire a skip for as long as you need. Our standard hire is 7 days for non-account holders, or 21 days for account customers, after that rental applies. Our hire terms are fully flexible and can be tailored to your specific requirements – simply get in touch with us to discuss further.

How do I arrange a skip collection?

Need a skip collected at a different time? Get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

Can I keep the skip for longer if needed?

Yes, here at Woodford Recycling, we won’t pressure you to return your skip before you’re ready. If you need to keep your skip for longer then just give us a call and we can sort a more convenient collection date. Please be aware there may be additional charges for longer hire periods.

What sizes of skip do you offer?

Here at Woodford Recycling, we supply a range of skips in a huge variety of sizes, from small 4-yard skips to large 16-yard skips. We can also provide RORO skips with 20 and 35 cubic yard capacity for large commercial projects. Check out our skip size guide for more details.
